Duke AERO’s current project for the 2024-25 design cycle is an SRAD solid fuel vehicle that will fly in the 30k-ft competition category in the 2025 Spaceport America Cup. This rocket is designed and built almost entirely in-house, including SRAD avionics, roll-stabilizing canards, a payload with computer vision capabilities, and a guided recovery system. The team is also continuing development of our liquid engine with plans for a full static hot fire test and a competition-ready engine design by 2026. The structures team is developing a custom composite filament winder to manufacture smaller tubes to achieve greater precision in controlling the rocket’s outer diameter.
